If one had to describe the International Women’s Association (IWA) Fiji briefly the old adage “actions speak louder than the words” springs to mind. In February, the IWA Charity Ball and it turned out to be a huge success with the organisation raising over $350,000. As stated during the fundraising one of the goals of the ball was to raise money for an echocardiogram machine for the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva. Last Friday, the organisation reported that the life-saving machine had arrived in the country and had been delivered to the doctors at the CWM Children’s Hospital.
The machine has been assembled and set up in the Echo Room, ready to start making a difference!
As noted by IWA stalwart, Judy Compain:
This will help boost early screening and detection of rheumatic heart disease and is a huge step forward for our children’s health.
Vinaka vakalevu and god bless to the hardworking ladies of the IWA!
