RIDLEY SCOTT SAYS EXPECT GLADIATOR SEQUEL EARLY 2024

The original movie was a huge success around the world when it came out in 2000.
During an interview for his latest movie, The Duel, Ridley Scott, let slip that the sequel for Gladiator has already been written.
When asked when we can expect it he said:
It’s already written. It will follow Napoleon.
The ‘Napoleon’ he is referring to is his next film. Kitbag, a historical drama about the French military leader and emperor.
Joaquin Phoenix – who played Commodus in Gladiator – will take on the lead role, while Jodie Comer will play his wife, Josephine.
Russel Crowe has also put his hand up for the sequel ‘only if they find a good way to bring my character back”
The sequel is said to follow Lucius, the son of Connie Nielsen’s Lucilla and nephew of Joaquin Phoenix’s power-hungry and immoral Commodus. Both Lucilla and Lucius were saved by Crowe’s Maximus from the embittered Roman emperor before the gladiator passed on to be with his own slain family.
