Golden boys Yeshnil Karan and Rusiate Matai given a well-deserved hero’s welcome in Tavua

Here is an interesting statistic: of the 5 gold medals Fiji won in Athletics at the recently concluded Pacific Games, 4 or 80% were from Tavua. We had one in the high jump from Balata College student who, despite being the shortest athlete competing grabbed gold with a jump of 2.04m. His accomplishment is especially impressive when you realise he only managed a bronze medal jump of 1.89m at this years Coca-cola Games.
