Priscilla’s perspective.

The upcoming biographical feature film about Priscilla Presley is based on the memoir “Elvis and Me” written by Priscilla Presley, the former wife of Elvis Presley. The book covers their relationship from their first meeting when she was 14 years old to their marriage and eventual divorce.
It also delves into Elvis’s personal life, including his drug use and infidelity. The trailer suggests the film will be “in conversation” with Baz Luhrmann’s hit 2022 biopic, “Elvis,” giving weight to Priscilla’s perspective, who hardly figured in the Luhrmann movie at all.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Priscilla Presley said that Sofia Coppola, the producer and writer of “Priscilla,” is the rare filmmaker who could “understand” her story. Meanwhile, Joel Weinshanker, managing partner and majority owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, said that EPE would only license music for projects “that Elvis would be proud of.”
It might be safe to assume that Elvis would not take pride in a movie that depicts him as sometimes “cruel and manipulative,” especially a movie that emphasizes the fact that Priscilla was 14 when Elvis began pursuing her while he was in the Army.
“Priscilla” registered “92% Fresh” on the “Tomatometer,” meaning that 92 percent of the 39 website-approved critics who have written reviews liked the movie.
