AMY’S TATTOO

Getting a tattoo is definitely a big deal especially, if you’re getting it done in a foreign country in their mother tongue. These tattoos are linked to good memories of your time spent in these places.

Unfortunately, for Amy it’s a constant reminder that she got scammed by a tattoo artist while in Fiji.

Amy decided while on holiday in Fiji that she wanted to get a tattoo in Itaukei and asked the artist to design something with meaning and depth.

Not knowing the language, she happily got the words “Matanivola Levu” inked on her body. Amy left the tattoo parlor thinking, it was a proverb.

The words on her thigh directly translate to read “capital letters”

She took to tiktok asking her followers to translate it for her.

“I didn’t know that Fijians could be so mean because now I’ve got a tattoo and I don’t even know what it means,” she said, sobbing as she did so.

“So can someone tell me what I have on my body, please?

Amy was then inundated with people helpfully revealing the tattoo’s actual meaning, with one writing: “That’s ‘capital letter’ in Fijian”.

While some assisted her in translations, others questioned whether or not Amy’s tattoo was even real, which she proved in the next video as she posed in front of the mirror and pulled the leg of her shorts up to show the inking.

A follower  insisted there is actually a double meaning to the phrase.

“‘Big Book’ in Fijian can translate to mean you have many stories to tell, which is a way of saying you have many adventures,” they said.

Does it have a double meaning? or is it really just “capital letters”? I guess she’ll never know.
