It often feels like we only read negative things on social media so this post from the Fiji Police Facebook page is a good reminder that things are not as bad as what you see online suggests.
We would like to begin this beautiful Friday morning, with a heartwarming story of how Year 11 Natabua High School students Setareki Danford, George Niumataiwalu, John Kumkee, Sean Mar and Ratu Sakiusa Yalimaiwai went out of their way to help Year 1 Jasper Williams Primary School student Vasemaca Drotini on Wednesday afternoon. We also thank their parents/guardians and school management for allowing us to share their story.Little Vasemaca after losing her bus card started to panic and was crying when she was approached by the five young gentlemen. The five took it upon themselves to walk the little girl home, which was approximately half an hour away from where they were.On the way, the boys bought her a snack before continuing on their journey, focused on ensuring little Vasemaca reached home safely.Upon reaching her home, Vasemaca proudly told her family, the story of how her new friends helped her get home after losing her bus card. The next day, Vasemaca’s family paid the boys a visit to personally thank them for their selfless act of kindness.Well done boys well done parents/guardians well done teachers for sharing the responsibility of instilling the core values of honesty, respect and compassion.Their actions also serve as a timely reminder, that a small act of kindness and being aware of what is happening around you, could be a blessing for someone in need.Let’s continue to look out for each other in keeping our communities safe.Blessed and safe Friday!(Editors note; Ratu Sakiusa Yalimaiwai was attending to another school engagement when this photo was taken)
Well done lads!
