It’s a story we still love talking about. After coming 3rd in years Coca-Cola Games, Tavua lad Rusiate Matai hunkered down and committed to his training with intensity and passion. Walking to the jump pit at this years Pacific Games he noticed that he was the shortest high jumper in the competition. However, he was not intimidated as the words of his grandfather echoed in his head: Do not let physical appearances fool you. Bolstered by these words, Matai jumped in to history with a jump of 2.04m that saw his secure a gold medal.
