Science Officer brings home Weightlifting Gold

Mr. Faga Varea, known to his friends as Robert, a Scientific Officer with the Mineral Resources Department, was part of the Fiji team to the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championship that was held in Yaren, Nauru on the 28th of October to the 2nd of November this year.

Mr. Varea had competed in the U93 kg category and scooped 4 medals, with 3 silver medals and 1 gold medal.
His weightlifting journey stemmed from humble beginnings in 2015, In 2022 Mr. Faga Varea was recognized for exceptional achievement at the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championship.
Mr. Varea expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all those that supported him during his journey to accomplishing a personal best performance. He has not only instilled pride in the nation but provided visibility to the sport also.
