Jennifer Lopez Thank You Speech at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards – Yay or Nay?
Written by Victoria Vollmer on June 7, 2022
When celebrities give thank you speeches after accepting awards, one can almost be certain that there is going to be a long list of names.
Jennifer Lopez, however did hers differently, and I absolutely loved it cause to me it felt somewhat honest and vulnerable. She was awarded the MTV Generation Award at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Award. The Generation Award celebrates “beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names,” according to MTV. Past recipients include Scarlett Johansson, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Pratt, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Sandra Bullock, Jamie Foxx, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey and the Fast & Furious franchise, among others.
At the start of her speech, I thought to myself, is J-Lo really being petty by thanking her haters and heartbreakers? Then I thought, hmmm ok maybe it’s not so bad she’s being classy about the whole thing. But I was so wrong, I mean, ok, she thanked those that broke her heart, lied to her and those that didn’t have faith in her but she also thanked those that were a positive driving force in her life and it’s just goes to show it’s not only the good that helps mold you and your career but the bad as well. All of life’s experiences are building blocks our our character and spirit and J-Lo’s speech was a reminder.
A reminder to celebrate the good and be grateful for the bad.
Here is the full speech, tell me what you think.
