Richie and Gemma McCaw found out that Queen Mary Maternity Ward at Dunedin Hospital and Christchurch Women’s Hospital was short of woolen clothes for newborns. What did they do? They picked up knitting needles and encouraged friends and family to do the same.

A week into their knitting and they have enlisted the help of Gemma’s mom and aunty to give them lessons.

Gemma posted the above video on her Facebook and Instagram pages and it’s gotten thousands of views in the short time that it’s been up.

The furrowed brow concentration is giving me hope that maybe I could tackle knitting myself.

Vinaka Gemma and Richie for all that you do.
