Fiji Men’s Netball Team Touch Down in Nadi as Champs

Our Crest Fiji Men’s Team has safely touched down at Nadi International Airport winning the Nation’s Cup in Singapore over the weekend.
Brushing aside the online jibes when the members were first brought to light as being the representatives of Fiji to the tournament, the players garnered support along the way as they picked their opponents one game at a time, silencing those who criticized them. The team won all their games save one, the game against the Aussies seemed to show the team that they still had real competition ahead as they lost to men in green and gold.
They fired ahead on all cylinders and were set to take on the Aussies one last time in the final. One can only wonder how the team mates felt with a loss to the same team already on the books as they approached the court.
Trailing for pretty much the entire game, the Fiji team kept themselves as close as possible to their Pacific rivals using the ‘hoist’ move with what can only be described as ‘rugby lineout accuracy’. With a few seconds on the clock the Fiji team did the impossible and somehow scraped by in a 7s style, heart attack inducing ending to take the game 55 – 54 and claiming the Merlion Cup.
