ARIEL OUT OF THE OSCARS

Awards season is slowly approaching and Disney has made a significant decision regarding the 2023 remake of The Little Mermaid – it’s been withdrawn from contention in one category.
They’ve decided to remove its “For Your Consideration” campaign for Best Original Song, and the official website no longer lists the category.
According to Academy Rules ” if a studio chooses not to submit an entry to a specific category, it becomes ineligible for consideration in that category.”
Halle Bailey has received praise in her performance as Ariel however, the remake has received a lot of criticism regarding it’s overuse of CGI and changing up lyrics to songs such as Poor Unfortunate Souls and Kiss the Girl to avoid causing offense in contemporary times.
Despite this decision, other cast members such as Awkwafina (Scuttle) are still in the running for the category of Best Supporting Actress and Javier Bardem (King Triton) in the Best Supporting Actor category .
Fans have taken to social media to question this decision as Javier Barden’s role in the movie received mixed reviews.
